The Tampa Bay Auburn Club currently supports a scholarship at the endowed level. Only 6 other Clubs in the country have a Century Level Endowment!
However, for a long time, the only Club scholarship available has been exclusively for Hillsborough County students. It made sense at the time since it was established back when the Suncoast Auburn Club was the chartered club in Pinellas.
But, It’s A New Day and it is time to change that and rally around ALL the youth in Tampa Bay!!
The Goal is to endow another Scholarship for Pinellas and Pasco County students by the end of 2017 and build them both from there.
In order to do this, we all need to come together and focus on the 2 Most Important Missions of the Club:
- To build a support system that continuously sends Top Students from All of Tampa Bay to the place we all hold dear to our hearts
- To foster the spirit of Auburn throughout All of Tampa Bay
This can only happen if we keep our focus on the kids who are the future of Auburn and the future leaders of the Tampa Bay Auburn Club.
Let’s build something together for them that they can get involved with at an early age and be proud of for decades to come!
The scholarship that is currently in place is the Prentis S Howard Scholarship – As of March 2017, it has a book value (Principle) of $218,106 and Market Value (Including Dividends) of $249,055. The goal is to reach a fully funded scholarship level – which requires additional contributions amounting to approximately $290K
While adding to this scholarship is important, it is equally important to have other scholarships created to help other students. There are several ways to accomplish this including:
- Starting work on several $25K Endowed Scholarships that would generate $1K annual Scholarships that can be given out annually
- Contributing to a Scholarship that can be Presented to a Predetermined (by you) Recipient
- And other factors such as matching programs that are periodically avaiable

What is an endowment?
An endowment is a gift held in perpetuity and invested to provide a stable funding source for scholarships and other campus initiatives. Gifts are placed in a fund and a portion of the income earned from that fund finances a scholarship for deserving students, now and in the future.

For those of you interested in applying for a Tampa Bay Auburn Club Scholarship, there is no need to apply. As long as you’ve applied to Auburn using a Hillsborough, Pinellas or Pasco County address, you will be in the top tier of applicants. The General Scholarship Committee will look at students from these areas and based on their ACT score, GPA and school/community involvement will help them choose who to assign our club’s scholarships. No one from the TBAC is involved with making these decisions.
Good luck to all of you who plan to go to Auburn. If you or anyone else you know is interested in attending Auburn in the Fall of 2017, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the name of the student, their parents names, their physical address, email address and phone number so we can make sure they get an invitation to our annual freshmen sendoff.
